 East Quarter Corner of Section 16, T109N, R17W, 5th P.M.

Statement of Evidence:

November 1853 Thomas Simpson, U.S. Deputy Surveyor, set a post in mound with trench and pits.

October 1985 Ron Murphy, L. S. No. 10832, conducted a road description survey for the township of Cherry Grove. The survey indicates the corner on centerline north south township road and fence line west.

August 1995 Dennis L. Robinson, Goodhue County Deputy Surveyor, supervised the excavation for the corner at the intersection of township road and fence line west. Searched an area 8' x 12' x 4' deep to clay, site appeared disturbed and no evidence was found.

An analysis of the record and field evidence indicates the monument has been destroyed by past road construction projects, but the location has been perpetuated by the north-south township road and fence line to the west.

August 18, 1995: A Goodhue County Telspar monument was set at this location and is accepted as the best evidence of the Original Public Land Survey corner.
