NORTH QUARTER CORNER SECTION 05, T111N, R16W, 5TH P.M.
Statement of Evidence:
1854: During the Original
Public Land Survey, a post was placed.
1923: A.E. Rhame, Goodhue County Surveyor, in survey
No. 469 and 470 shows stones at the Northwest and Northeast corners of Section
5.
1929: A.E. Rhame, Goodhue
County Surveyor, in survey No. 883, surveys several parcels in the Southwest
Quarters of Section 32, Township 112N, Range 16W. The quarter corner is shown
with a note: “sworn to by witnesses-50 year old fence.” Also several irons were placed on the right
right of way line and the southwest corner of the old stone store was shown to
be exactly 33.00’ north of the section line.
1938: A.E. Rhame, Survey No.
1483, shows the survey of lands based on the earlier 1929 survey.
1957: A.E. Rhame, Survey No.
4741 and 4742 are based on the 1929 survey.
1960: A.E. Rhame survey is
based on 1929 survey.
1977: Harry S. Johnson
Companies recovered a 3” galvanized wood screw.
Several monuments were recovered along the north right of way line,
which were placed by A.E. Rhame during his 1929 survey. After measuring from the monuments to the screw,
it was confirmed the wood screw perpetuates Rhame’s 1929 position and therefore
was accepted as a perpetuation of the Original Public Land Survey corner. On
July 19, 1977, a 5/8” x 14” iron pipe with plastic cap RLS 5065 was set to mark
this location. See certificate of
location filed on July 6, 1982.
August 1984: Dennis L. Robinson,
Assistant to the Goodhue County Surveyor, excavated at the site of the iron
pipe set in 1977. Nothing was found,
therefore a Goodhue County Telspar monument was set at the position of the pipe
monument. See Certificate of Location
filed February 14, 1985.
August 1994: Dennis L.
Robinson, Goodhue County Deputy Surveyor, found the monument set in 1984 was
missing. A new Goodhue County Telspar
monument was set using earlier field information. See Certificate of Location
filed on January 2, 1997.
May 2004: Dennis L. Robinson,
Goodhue County Deputy Surveyor, found the county monument and recorded field
data for upcoming road construction project.
On September 6, 2006, after completion of the road project, the monument
set in 1997 was missing. A 4” Dura-Nail with Goodhue County Disk was set at the
corner location.
